We don’t feature that many cosplayers here in TAE, but we do appreciate how people like Regina, a.k.a. @picturresque, can transform themselves into practically any character they want. She got our attention when we found out how she was able to cosplay all of the major Sailor Moon characters in celebration of the animated TV show’s 25 years.
She became quite the viral person of the week when countless blogs the world over started featuring her and her amazing copycat looks that obviously took a lot of effort and thought. It tugged on the heartstrings of many millennials who grew up watching the show, as well as anime lovers who simply adore all things Sailor Moon.
Recently, Sailor Moon fans from all over the world had major excitement when limited edition Sailor Moon makeup made its way into the scene. Triggering nostalgia among the kids and teens of yesteryear, the various makeup lines are available online and in-store from official distributors including Hot Topic, Amazon, and Disney World (Epcot).
However, HMU Regina took it upon herself to recreate the actual Sailor Senshis – all of them! Not just the canon ones like the titular Sailor Moon, and her cohorts Sailors Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Saturn, and the grown up Chibiusa also known as Black Lady. She even recreated a look for Sailor Sun, who was only created by fans for their fanfiction work. She did 3 looks for each character: human, sailor scout, and a modern/mature look inspired by the aforementioned characters.
Regina looks magical, no matter what she changes her look into. As a great makeup artist who’s ultra-talented, this lady can do almost anything and have us believe she is that character. From simple yet classic looks like Audrey Hepburn’s style in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, to outrageous gothic looks like her Evil Queen and Red Riding Hood looks, and various simple and glam looks for all her catwalk and fashion show stints as a makeup artist, Regina truly knows how to make things pop.
She’s not stingy with her information either. On her blog, she lists the products she uses, and on her Youtube channel she has tutorials. While she is German, she doesn’t speak in her tutorials – she just shows you how to do it, detailing which products are used where. They’re fun to watch, and we bet it’s even more fun to actually learn from the stuff she posts!
