Recently we at TAE have been reaching out to more artists from other groups outside of Instagram. In a community of collage artists in Facebook, we discovered Daniel Jacob, a Canadian artist who specializes in moving pieces of art through mixed media collages and assemblages.
If the art of collage-making can be traced all the way back to the early twentieth century, with European Dadaism and modernism as its roots. Blending photography and other mixed medium, ripping pieces apart and reassembling to create entirely new artworks, that is what collages are all about.
It may seem easy to just take elements from one image and add it into another, but collage making is a lot of hard work. To convey messages and provoke thoughts using a reassembled group of images is an intimidating task, but artists like Daniel Jacob prove it can be done.
While most of his works involve physical collage-making, he’s recently dabbled in the creative ways of montages as well as digital/iPhone manipulation. Here are a few of Daniel’s that we’ve seen that really impressed us.
