The holiday takes place on October 31 through November 2 in connection with the triduum of Allhallowtide: All Hallows’ Eve, Hallowmas and All Souls’ Day. In honor of family and friends who have passed away, Dia de Los Muertos make-up art transforms feelings of sadness into bright beautiful art form shaped by colorful paint, eyeliner, glitter, flowers, stencils and more.

Throughout the holiday private altars called ofrendas are built by loved ones. Unique sugar skulls, marigold displays and the favorite food and beverages of the departed are also prepared in remembrance of the deceased.

From the beautiful dried roses to the sparkling eye makeup, every application and outfit is unique, making it difficult to pick just one from TAE’s favorite sugar skull collection below!
