Let’s be honest – how many of us know more about Romania than it being Count Dracula’s home land? A lot of people probably picture the country as a dark and creepy place, or would even think of it as a merely fictional place. Did you know that it is actually a very beautiful country with very picturesque landscapes? What better way to see it all than through the eyes of a true blue Romanian?
Alex Robciuc, a photographer from Romania, features a lot of Transylvanian landscapes, sunrises, sunsets, mountainsides, and everything in between in his photographic works. “Hiking and being in nature inspires me a great deal, so capturing these experiences is one of my passions,” he explains.
He captures a lot of his shots while hiking or going around Transylvania, specifically in the small county of Maramures. Sometimes he would wake up at 5am just to capture dreamy, fairytale-like atmospheres. “The landscapes I photographed in this region are serene and tranquil,” he describes.
“Waking up at 5 AM, searching for a view-point, waiting for the perfect light and finding an outstanding element in the landscape around me – that’s my perfect recipe for transposing my feelings and my mood into a simple photo,” he narrates.

His latest batch of photos, on the other hand, took even more patience. Over the course of two days, he was able to hike again in Maramures to capture a new set of magnificent photos. “I waited a few months for a perfect spring weekend, with the perfect weather to hike in Maramures County, and take some photos at sunrise and sunset.”
