If you have been visiting TAE for a while, you know we often discover artists through Instagram. This time around, we found a photographer from Singapore, Ng Weijang, who utilizes the 3-image width grid format for a “big picture” effect.
We think of this as a digital collage format – rather than using software to stick and stitch images into one, this artist uses the popular social media platform to do the formatting for him. He usually takes 9-image installments, but sometimes deviates as long as the number is divisible by 3 so the images align well when viewed together.
While the artist didn’t start his Instagram with that in mind, sometimes even uploading videos, he definitely had black and white photography as a style from the get go. Sometimes even the images look great as solo, but the wider, bigger pictures make everything seem surreal and even more amazing. Here are some of our fav collages he’s made so far:
