Inspired by the William Golding’s 1954 publication ‘Lord of the Flies’, photographer Elisabeth Toll recently brought the classic story to life in Germany’s Grazia December 2014 editorial. The images were shot in Iceland with stylist Birgit Schlotterbeck, model Ilva Heitmann, hair and makeup by Thorsten Weiss, with casting and production by Inga Lisa. From the stunning landscapes to the props and choice of design, this editorial is both engaging and whimsical.

Toll studied archaeology, history and law before discovering photography. She began by specializing in darkroom printing and hand retouching, and still tries to retain in her work the sense of this kind of photography even while shooting digitally.

After assisting various photographers in Paris, she turned to portraits and fashion. She divides her time between Stockholm and Paris and gathers inspiration from books and film.
