Presque Vu is an art show opening in Fort Pointe Bldg. along 28th St. Bonifacio Global City, Taguig in the Philippines next month. Art lovers from there, or those who plan to visit there within the next month or so, should definitely take a look as it will feature the works of four amazing Filipino artists (including one of our friends and previously featured artists Nonie Cruzado).

The show’s name Presque Vu came from the “tip-of-the-tongue” phenomenon, wherein you experience that failure to retrieve a word from memory although there is partial recall, and you get that feeling that retrieving that word is merely looming.

However, the show doesn’t limit the meaning of Presque Vu to the verbal chasing within our minds – according to the artists the feeling can also describe that of ideas that one has trouble translating into reality. As described in the event page, “…similar to having the word at the tip of the tongue, we have always had the truth within ourselves, but struggle at the brink of that epiphany.”

The four-man show features the following artists:

Rafael Banzuela

Raf is an illustrator and designer who loves to use graphite in his work. He describes himself as having “a soft spot for the minimalist and black and white.”

Paulo Correa

Paulo is an advertising art director, who also does illustrations for brands as a sideline. He has a penchant for making art prints, especially for his versions of cover art for Chuck Palahniuk’s books.

Nonie Cruzado

Currently based in California, Nonie’s artworks are a reflection of his life experiences. His bottom line when it comes to his art is “to capture a thought or encounter in the most honest way.”

Bernard Peña

Bernard is a mix of the traditional and the new – he does acrylic on canvas, but also dabbles in digital illustrations. He cites his exposure to comic books and cartoons as some of his biggest art influences.
