It’s not the first time Banksy has gotten caught in the middle of a controversial art piece. In fact, he’s pretty much known for it. One of his biggest works to date, Dismaland, came to light in 2015. Now, he’s topped that with a dystopian type hotel with the “worst view in the world,” something not many locals are happy about.
On the edge of Bethlehem, Palestine, the Walled Off Hotel is the second property Banksy owns there – the first being Banksy Guest House (formerly Walled Guest House) which opened about a decade ago. The secretive British street artist, created this new hotel next to the controversial separation wall.
Officially opening March 20th (with reservations starting March 11th), the hotel offers beds starting at $30 a night so you can sleep inside a massive work of art. The entirety of this project took 14 months to establish and decorate, not just by Banksy alone but also with his team. Located in a former pottery workshop, it’s filled with paintings, installations, and murals.
According to the world-famous artist, this life sized art piece is a “a three-storey cure for fanaticism, with limited car parking.” Definitely, this is a massive piece that may spark yet more controversy. Check out this quick video from Channel 4 News talking about it:
Here are some incredible photos of the artwork. Would you stay here?
