What do you get when you cross traditional graphic design techniques with the mind of an electrical engineer? 3D calligraphy! Turkish artist Tolga Girgin creates unbelievably accurate three-dimensional typography on paper using a variety of pencils and pens.

Having incredible attention to detail, an arsenal of colorful inks, and an unbeatable flair for design, this 33-year-old “calligraffiti” artist is actually an electrical and electronics engineer by day. Other than 3D designs, this Eskişehir-based artist also loves to experiment with different colors, medium, and techniques.

His penchant for shadows and shading makes his art very unique and so real that it might just make you want to touch the paper just to verify it’s a drawing. Don’t believe me? Check out some of his best works. They may just leave you awestruck, confused, or both.
